Safeguarding / CP
At Eastbury Primary School we recognise the importance of all our children feeling safe as we recognise this as a condition of being ready to learn. Safeguarding at Eastbury Primary School is given top priority. All adults in our school have a responsibility for Safeguarding. We believe that it is important to make children aware of behaviour towards them that is not acceptable, and our PSHE, Jigsaw initiative supports children in recognising when their personal rights are being compromised. The school also signposts access to support for pupils, by displaying Childline posters with the helpline number on.

Promoting Safeguarding Through Teaching & Learning
PSHE (Personal, social, health and emotional learning) often involves use of CIRCLE TIME. This is an activity where children have the opportunity to discuss things that can affect them emotionally. There are strict rules of turn-taking and encouraging children to speak whilst also allowing children to remain silent on a topic if they want to. In the topics covered in PSHE there is a strong focus on developing social and emotional skills.
Anti-bullying
Incidents of bullying are taken seriously at Eastbury Primary School. Children have been taught to identify bullying behaviour and are encouraged to report it. A great emphasis is put on developing the skills of being a good friend.
As pupils mature they are able to reflect on their own and others’ rights and responsibilities. Pupils are taught to behave in this way and are involved in drawing up codes of Conduct in their classes. As a school, the pupils will participate in regular Anti–Bullying campaigns and awareness weeks.
The senior leadership team run weekly assemblies to celebrate achievement. This provides an opportunity to reinforce Eastbury Primary School’s Values:
- Respect
- Aiming High
- Creativity
- Enjoyment
- Teamwork
