We’re a Listening and Telling School!

(What We Do as a School)

At Eastbury, we take bullying very seriously – and that means we always listen and take action.

We’re proud to be a Listening and Telling School, which means:

  • When you tell us something’s happened, we really listen.
  • We take the next steps to help, and we don’t ignore it.
  • We make sure that you feel safe, heard, and happy with how we sort things out.

We believe that bullying is not OK – and we don’t allow it here. That’s called zero tolerance. If something is bothering you, we want to know, so we can help.

We also have lots of ways to make playtime and learning fun and kind:

  • Buddy Benches in the playground where you can sit if you want a friend to play with or just need a quiet moment.
  • Kindness Stickers for children who show caring, helpful and friendly behaviour.
  • Kindness Award Certificate is given out by our headteacher in every assembly!
  • Every half term, you get a chance to tell us how you’re feeling and what we can do better. This helps us make our school even kinder.

“Before, I was nervous to tell. But now I know teachers will listen and help straight away!” – Year 5 pupil

Top Tips to Beat Bullying!

(Helpful Tips)

Here are some super helpful things YOU can do if something’s going wrong:

Tell someone you trust. You can talk to your:

  • Class Teacher
  • Ms Seymour
  • A teacher on the playground
  • Or even use the Worry Monster in your classroom to write down your worry.
  • Speak up straight away! If someone is being unkind, don’t wait – tell a teacher right away so we can help fix it.
  • Be a buddy, not a bully. If you see someone alone or upset, invite them to play. You could make a new friend!
  • Be kind to yourself. Remember: being different is what makes us amazing!

“When I was worried, I wrote in the Worry Monster and my teacher helped me the same day!” – Year 2 pupil

Anti-Bullying Week Fun!

(Workshops)

Every year during Anti-Bullying Week, we welcome a special team called OpenView Education into school! They help us learn through:

  • Exciting assemblies that match each year’s anti-bullying theme
  • Fun and interactive workshops that help us understand bullying and how to stop it

Everyone gets involved, and we always learn something new about being kind, safe, and confident.

“I liked the part in the show where they taught us how to be a good friend!” – Year 3 pupil

 You Said, We Listened!

(What We’ve Done)

We’ve been listening to you, and we’ve made changes that matter.

You told us what helps, and we added:

  • More quiet spaces like the Buddy Benches
  • Kindness rewards in assemblies
  • More ways to speak up if you’re worried

This is part of our promise to keep your Rights and British Values at the heart of our school:

Article 12 – You have the right to give your opinion, and for adults to listen and take it seriously.
Article 19 – You have the right to be protected from being hurt.
British Values – We show mutual respecttolerance, and understand right from wrong.

“Now when I tell a teacher, I know something will happen. That makes me feel safe.” – Year 6 pupil

 What Would You Do?

(Scenarios and Children’s Voice)

Here are some real-life situations. What would YOU do?

Scenario 1:

“My friend keeps leaving me out of games and saying unkind things. It’s happened lots of times.”
 What should you do?
Tell your teacher or Ms Seymour. This sounds like bullying, and we want to help you feel better.

Scenario 2:

“Someone on the playground took my ball and didn’t give it back. They laughed when I got upset.”
What should you do?
Speak to the adult on duty straight away so they can help fix the problem right there and then.

Scenario 3:

“I saw someone sitting alone on the Buddy Bench. What should I do?”
Go say hi! You might make their day – and maybe a new friend too!

 Real quotes from our children:

“I love getting kindness stickers – they make me feel proud!” – Year 1

“We used the Buddy Bench and now we play together every day.” – Year 3

“Things are sorted faster now and teachers ask how we feel about it too.” – Year 4

“I filled in the form about bullying, and it helped me know what to do if it ever happens.” – Year 6
